On 23 August 2022 The Klaxon published an article, Hundreds of PM’s appointments must be “reviewed”: Ombudsman.

The Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman investigates in private, and generally does not comment on the receipt, investigation, outcome or follow-up of a particular matter.

The Ombudsman and his staff are also bound by the secrecy provisions under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act) which make it an offence to disclose information obtained in the course of a disclosure investigation or in connection with the performance of a function, or exercise of a power under the PID Act.

We cannot comment on the matters reported by The Klaxon. However, the Office confirms it is not reviewing the legality of appointments of officials by the then Prime Minister.
