Benefits and conditions
The office's conditions for non-Senior Executive Service (non-SES) vacancies are set out in its current Collective Agreement. These conditions are applicable only to non-SES vacancies.
SES conditions are negotiated individually with the Ombudsman.
The office's Collective Agreement sets out a framework of conditions of employment and a number of understandings, aimed at creating a workplace environment which encourages the development of a culture that continuously strives to improve the quality of service to clients, seeks to maximise the productivity of the agency within the level of resources available, and recognises the need to balance work responsibilities and lifestyle choices of staff.
Positions in the Commonwealth Ombudsman's office are Australian Public Service (APS) positions. The Commonwealth Ombudsman operates within the Public Service Act 1999 legislative framework. The framework and implications for employees are outlined on the following pages on the Australian Public Service Commission's website (www.apsc.gov.au).
